Best Buy Settles Discrimination LawsuitBy Bloomberg | Posted on: June 18, 2011San Francisco, CA - Best Buy Co. Inc. has reached a settlement in an employment discrimination case, the company and attorneys for the plaintiffs said Friday. The lawsuit, filed in 2005 in U.S. District Court in Northern California, alleged that the retailer discriminated against women, African-American and Latino employees by denying them promotions and more lucrative sales positions. Best Buy has denied any wrongdoing. Under the settlement, the company agrees to change its personnel policies and procedures to enhance equal employment opportunities at its stores nationwide. Neither Best Buy nor attorneys for the plaintiffs could be reached for further details or comment. The settlement still requires the approval of the court. |
