Paula Abdul Named X Factor Judge

Los Angeles, CA - Paula Abdul is set to reunite with Simon Cowell Sunday at the judges' table of his new singing competition, "The X Factor," according to E-online. Abdul joins previously announced judges British pop singer Cheryl Cole and record producer Antonio "L.A" Reid. E-online said Abdul finalized a deal with the show late Saturday night, after negotiations ran down to the wire.

The judges were scheduled to begin filming auditions for the show Sunday. Cowell and Abdul judged "American Idol" together for eight seasons before she left the show in 2009. Abdul briefly starred on the CBS competition series "Live to Dance," which failed to attract a following. Cowell left the top-rated show last year to produce the US version of "The X Factor."

On Saturday, "The X Factor" selected Welsh television emcee Steve Jones and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger to co-host the show. Jones has hosted live TV shows in the UK including a music series, "T4 Music." Scherzinger has appeared on the UK version of "The X-Factor" as well as ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."
