Malaria Afflicted Countries Recovering From The DiseaseBy Medical News Today | Posted on: October 18, 2011Seattle, WA - Almost one third of countries that are currently affected by malaria are on course for eliminating the disease over the next ten years, according to a report by the Roll Back Malaria Partnership. Malaria, a completely preventable and treatable disease, still kills approximately 781,000 people each year. According to WHO (World Health Organization), 40% of people on this planet are affected by Malaria. Malaria is said to undermine the economic and social development of the world's poorest nations. The authors of this new report, titled "Eliminating Malaria, Learning from the Past, Looking Ahead" explain that ua growing nmber of nations are heading towards the elimination of Malaria phase. In fact, over the last three years, four countries that were affected are now WHO-certified malaria free. Over the last decade seven countries have become malaria free, with another ten currently monitoring transmission so that they too can soon boast of zero malaria cases.
