Published Report: Rev. Wright Says Martin Was Wrong| Posted on: June 28, 2010One week after Barack Obama seemed to assert his authority with the military, Congress and BP; it surely seemed he could stay focused on the immediate future. It seems though this week there be a new distraction created by political liability from his past. <<<<< OLD SPEECH HERE, NEW QUOTES BELOW The Reverend Jeremiah Wright was giving a seminar according to the NY Post. During a five day seminar last week in Chicago, Rev. Wright bashed whites, black leaders, the Israeli government and even Dr. Martin Luther King. Some of the notable quotes according to the paper: "We probably have more African-Americans who've been brainwashed than we have South Africans who've been brainwashed," "Unfortunately, I got in trouble with a fella for saying this...All your commentaries are written by oppressors." "You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk," he said. "And if you do not realize that, you are in serious trouble." "The civil-rights movement was never about racial equality. It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do." Martin Luther King, he said, was misguided for advocating nonviolence among his people, "born in the oven of America." http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/white_folk_done_took_this_country_... The Post says the crowd was mainly filled with an older crowd the reporter described as “relics of a pre-civil-rights America” The quotes have been replicated on several conservative and Jewish websites along with past quotes from President Obama in which he claimed never to hear Rev. Wright make racist comments. |
